The great british duck raceThe Great British Duck Race will see 175,000 ducks being released into the Thames at Moseley Lock, near Hampton Court Bridge for a 1km race and beat last year’s World Record. It is on the 5th September 2010!!

It couldn't be simpler to adopt a duck and to support Children in Crisis provide education to improve the lives for some of the world’s most vulnerable children. It costs just £2 plus a recommended donation of £3 per duck which will come straight to the charity. There is no limit to how many ducks you can buy so why not buy a flock!

Not only will you be donating to charity but, you will have the chance to win a prize. The first duck over the finish line wins a whopping £10,000 plus there are runner-up prizes for the first 30.

Come at 12.30 and see the ducks being loaded into the lock, celebrity starter will be on hand to keep you up to date of the ducks progress; you can then follow them down the course and cheer on your duck. The race will begin at 1.30pm and will take around two hours. The ducks will be carried by the current to the finish line at Albany Reach, where the winning duck will be announced. At the finish line there will be children’s entertainers, charity stalls and refreshments. So come along be a record breaker and join in the fun.

The Duck Race is working in close partnership with the River Thames Alliance and the Environment Agency to ensure that every plastic duck is removed from the Thames on completion of the race and then recycled or reused. For more information, please visit the website.
